If you have not yet read it, the Uncle Dave Macon bio “the Dixie Dewdrop” is a good one. It’s written by a descendent of Uncle Dave who also happens to be a scholar. Not only is it well annotated, but it is also loaded with amusing anecdotes (such as Macon’s wife refusal to have an indoor toilet ‘cause she didn’t want that filthy thing in the house - and the ham Macon carried around while touring). I also like it for the history of the Grand Old Opry included. Safe travels.
